Saudi Arabia hosts a range of important international conferences, including the G20 events, the Future Investment Initiative, the Global AI Summit, Neom and Fashion Futures. As in other Middle Eastern countries, certain events initially programmed for the March to May period will mostly be subject to rescheduling as the Saudi authorities attempt to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic spreading to the Saudi soil. Currently, The Global AU Summit has been postponed to September. Neom has also been postponed, to a date to be announced soon.
As Saudi Arabia will be hosting the G20 events throughout 2020, the priority of the Kingdom will logically be to control any presence of the Coronavirus at this early stage, leaving way for a smooth G20 in the second half of 2020. As neighbouring countries in the Middle East gets their coronavirus outbreaks under control, and the warm season reduces the contagiousness of the Covid-19 virus, postponed events will predictably be resceduled later in 2020 on the Saudi calendar.
